Right-click anywhere on QuakeNotch and click Settings.

QuakeNotch is very customizable, with over 100 options across Appearance, Notch Customization, Keyboard Shortcuts, General Settings, and Advanced Settings to tailor your experience.

Appearance Settings

Personalize how QuakeNotch looks

Terminal Font

Set your preferred font by entering comma-separated font names (default: MesloLGL Nerd Font)

Font Size

Adjust terminal font size from 8pt to 24pt

Color Scheme

Choose from 9 built-in themes: Default, Dracula, Monokai, Solarized Dark, Nord, Gruvbox Dark, Tokyo Night, One Dark, and Catppuccin Mocha

Notch Background

Pick a background style — Pure Black, Charcoal, Dark Gray, Semi-Transparent, Gradient, or animated backgrounds like Interstellar Travel, Digital Rain, Nebula, and more

Oscillator Theme

Change the music visualizer style: Classic, Neon, Rainbow, Minimal, Trans, or Femboy

Nerd Fonts: For the best icon support in your terminal, use a Nerd Font like MesloLGL Nerd Font (the default).

Notch Customization

Customize the notch display

Notch Icon

Pick from animated icons like Blinking Eye, Nyan Cat, Fire Flame, UFO, pride flags, or SF Symbols

Icon Color & Size

Set the icon color (Accent, Green, Blue, Pink, etc.) and adjust its size from 12pt to 32pt

Shadow Style

Choose shadow color (Accent, Midnight Black, Electric Blue, Neon Green, Hot Pink, and more) with adjustable opacity and radius

Special Effects

Add ambient effects around the notch: Stars, Matrix Rain, Fireflies, Snow, Sakura, or Interstellar Travel

Liquid Form Mode

Enable a fluid, morphing notch shape that reacts to your cursor with adjustable sensitivity

Typing Confetti: Enable the Typing Confetti Effect in Appearance settings to add colorful particle bursts as you type in the terminal.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Customize or create your own shortcuts

All keyboard shortcuts in QuakeNotch can be customized:

Activation Shortcut: Opens/closes the terminal (default: Control + Escape)
AI Commands: Opens AI command generator (default: ⌘ + Shift + G)
Assistive Analysis: Runs analysis (default: ⌘ + Shift + A)
Tab Management: Create, switch, and close tabs
Search: Open search in terminal (default: ⌘ + F)
Conflict Check: QuakeNotch automatically warns if a shortcut conflicts with another app. Choose non-conflicting keys for best experience.

General Settings

Control how QuakeNotch behaves

Start at Login

Launch QuakeNotch automatically when you log in to your Mac

Low Power Throttle

Reduce CPU and GPU usage when your Mac is on low power mode to save battery and reduce heat

Command Dividers

Show visual dividers between commands in the terminal with adjustable opacity

Progress Tracker

Enable the terminal progress tracker to display current progress of running commands

Battery Life: Enable "Low Power Throttle" if you notice increased battery drain. It reduces CPU and GPU usage when your Mac is in low power mode.

Advanced Settings

For power users

Mouse Reporting

Enable mouse reporting for terminal applications that support it (e.g. vim, htop)

Option as Meta Key

Use the Option key as a Meta key for terminal applications that require it

Scroll Buffer

Control how many lines of history are retained in the scrollback buffer (500 - 100,000)

Terminal Size

Adjust the width and height of the notch terminal window

Scroll Buffer: Changes to scroll buffer size apply to new terminal tabs only. Existing tabs keep their current buffer.
